12th Episcopal District, Serving Arkansas and Oklahoma

Following the election of her husband, Bishop Michael Mitchell as the 134th elected and consecrated Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal church in 2016, Cordelia Daniel Mitchell is now the Supervisor of the 12th Episcopal District, which encompasses the states of Arkansas and Oklahoma. She is a long-time human resources executive with experience in both the financial services and healthcare industries; specializing in leadership development, executive coaching, diversity and inclusion and organizational development. She left her corporate position as Vice President of Human Resources at EverBank and started CDM HR Consulting Services. Her primary client is Shorter College where she was contracted to build a Human Resources infrastructure for the college. Supervisor Cordelia graduated from Spelman College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Organizational Management. She holds a certificate in Leadership Development from the Harvard Kennedy School, and has certifications as a Senior Certified HR Professional and Executive Coach. She is active in many organizations, including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, The Bold City Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Spelman College National Alumni Association, and the NAACP. Supervisor Cordelia loves utilizing her more than 30 years of business experience helping non-profits and small businesses with human resource management expertise and counsel.
 
Supervisor Cordelia has a passion for missions, volunteerism and giving back to her community, especially with projects related to under-served and at-risk women and children. She serves as a mentor to students and volunteers her time teaching social and business etiquette, career planning, and college readiness to high school students. Through her work with the Women's Missionary Society and other Women's Ministries she has worked extensively with women and young people, promoting health and education, and ministering to incarcerated women. One of her primary focus areas is supporting and strengthening clergy spouses and families. As the Supervisor of missions, she is intentional about bringing young women into the WMS at all levels. To facilitate this effort, she has developed the Flossie Green Anna Graham Leadership Academy to train and develop young women for leadership roles.
 
She and the Bishop, have two adult daughters, Courtney and Channing. They love traveling and hope to one day have visited every continent.  Cordelia is a political junkie and her dream job would be either a TV Political Analyst or a Democratic Strategist. She is a closeted interior designer (HGTV junkie) and stylist (loves shopping).
