Supervisor, 2nd Episcopal District
Arelis Antonia Beevers Davis was born in Samana, Dominican Republic, to the late Mr. Federico Beevers and the late Mrs. Luz Francisca Beevers. She moved to the United States at an early age and was educated in the Belmar Public School System in New Jersey. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia, and a Master of Education degree with a concentration in Spanish Education, from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama. While fulfilling requirements for her Master’s degree, she studied at the University of Guadalajara in Mexico.
Supervisor Davis met and married Bishop James Levert Davis on the Campus of Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia. She presently serves, alongside her husband, as the Episcopal District Supervisor. of the 2nd Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church which comprises Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Western North Carolina, and Washington, D.C.
Supervisor Davis diligently serves in the Women’s Missionary Society and Young Peoples’ Division of the 2nd Episcopal District. Before becoming the 2nd Episcopal District Supervisor, she was the 9th and the 19th Episcopal District Supervisor (Republic of South Africa). Mother Davis initiated the “Hope and Healing” ministry for health and wellness support which involved, but was not limited to, breast cancer awareness and HIV/AIDS. Dutifully, she served as First Lady of Big Bethel AME Church in Atlanta, Georgia.
Supervisor Davis retired as an exemplary Spanish teacher from Frederick Douglas High School in Atlanta, Georgia. Among her numerous awards and honors are Who’s Who Among Black Americans and the National Hispanic Society. Her community memberships include the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE), National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Mother Davis has written prayers for Haiti and Cuba, she has also written on the Succession in Leadership.
Supervisor Davis has traveled throughout the United States of America, and to numerous countries around the world including Paris, Rome, London, Hong Kong, Bermuda, Bahamas, English, French, Dutch and Spanish Islands of the Caribbean, Singapore, Malaysia, Germany, Brazil, Canada, and East, West and South Africa.
Married to Bishop James L. Davis for forty-four years, Supervisor Davis dedication to God and Kingdom building exemplify the essence of true partnership in ministry and marriage. Mother Davis considers one of her greatest gifts being a mother to her two daughters, Dr. Nicole Tatiana Davis Pass, Lady Damarys Monique Burnett and, and her son-in-law, Christopher Burnett. The greatest joys of her life are her five grandchildren: Patrick James Pass, Ashton James Pass, Baron Christopher Valentino Burnett, Noel Olivia Burnett and Violet Joy Christina Burnett.
Supervisor Davis’ favorite Scripture is found in Psalm 116:1-2 1 I love the Lord, because He has heard my voice and my supplications. 2 Because He has inclined His ear unto me, therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.
